Jamie Gannon joins Australian Pineapples as new ambassador
Jamie Gannon, a well-known chef and television personality, has been appointed as the new ambassador for Australian Pineapples.
Gannon, who serves as the Culinary Director at Feros Group and hosts the show Ten Minute Kitchen, has also made appearances on The Morning Show and Sunrise.
The collaboration with Australian Pineapples, supported by Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG), aims to significantly increase the national consumption of pineapples from 2025 onwards. The initiative seeks to reposition pineapples as a staple in Australian kitchens throughout the year, rather than being perceived solely as a summer fruit.
Australian Pineapples represents commercial growers across five key regions. The partnership will involve Gannon in developing seasonal recipes and creating content to promote the consumption of Australian pineapples.
Gannon's role as the Culinary Director at Feros Group focuses on sustainability and local sourcing, aligning with the goals of Australian Pineapples to promote local produce.
Sam Pike, Chair of Australian Pineapples, highlighted the year-round availability of pineapples, stating, "Pineapples grow year-round, with 100% of Australian supply coming out of Queensland." He further added, "Having Jamie on board gives us the opportunity to elevate the appeal of pineapples and reinforce them as the fruit of choice all year round – not just in summer."
Pike expressed confidence in Gannon's role as ambassador, saying, "Choosing Jamie as the ambassador of our beautiful produce was easy as he is very passionate about Australian produce, supporting growers, encouraging Aussies to try new ways to cook and consume good quality produce and he is full of energy and fun. We couldn’t think of a better fit."
Gannon first connected with pineapple growers while on set with Golden Circle. "I met a couple of the growers and loved hearing about life on the farm, how passionate they are about their product and the hard work and care that goes into growing and harvesting beautiful Aussie pineapples," he said.
"They’re my type of people and I’m honoured to support their craft and get more Aussies loving the golden fruit all year long, just like I do."
Gannon emphasized the versatility of pineapples in culinary applications, noting, "From savoury dishes to smoothies, roasts to relishes, the humble pineapple has far more to offer. I’m excited to work with the growers and develop seasonal recipes and create fun content in support of Aussie pineapples."
