Airwallex, McLaren F1 unveil custom supercar ahead of Melbourne Grand Prix
Global financial platform Airwallex has partnered with McLaren F1 and internationally renowned Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie to create a custom McLaren Artura supercar. The collaboration was unveiled in Melbourne, ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, with F1 driver Oscar Piastri present at the event.
An official partner of the McLaren Formula 1 Team, the initiative is part of Airwallex's 'Shifted Perspectives' campaign, which seeks to merge sport, art, and business ambition.
"At Airwallex, we’re always looking for ways to push boundaries and create unexpected moments that provoke thought,” said VP, Global Marketing, Airwallex, Jon Stona. “Seeing Reko’s design come to life on the McLaren Artura was a truly special moment. Just like McLaren challenges conventions on the track, and Oscar Piastri takes on the world’s best in F1, we want to encourage Australian businesses to shift their perspectives, take bold steps, and scale globally.”
The McLaren Artura, featuring Rennie's unique design, will be on public display at Queensbridge Square from 13-16 March. This event provides an opportunity for the public to view the intersection of art and automotive engineering.
"Unveiling this design in front of a live audience has been incredible. As a lover of both art and sport, the crowd reaction affirmed how art and sport can intersect to create something truly unique," Rennie said.
In addition to the unveiling, Airwallex has awarded AUD$60,000 in business grants and prizes to Australian and First Nations businesses. This initiative is part of the company's broader commitment to supporting diverse business communities.
