Influencer marketing is no longer transactional, paid posts – it’s about “authentic connections between influencers and their communities”, Social Soup’s MD Katie Palmer-Rose said, sharing news the agency had hired Pete Hong as its new Influence Director.

What you need to know:

  • Pete Hong has joined Social Soup as its Influence Director.
  • He joins from We Are Social.

Social Soup, the influencer marketing business under The Influence Group brand, has named Pete Hong as its Influence Director.

Hong joins from We Are Social, where he led the Samsung global media account. He has previously worked at Domain, Storyful and Volvo Car Group.

In his new role, he will engage with and vet influencers, create content strategies and measure influence performance. Instead of transactional, paid posts, Social Soup’s Managing Director, Katie Palmer-Rose, says Hong will work to drive “authentic connections between influencers and their communities” on behalf of brands.

Hong’s new role comes after last month’s appointment of Chris Burt-Allan as the agency’s first Creator Director.
