Aussies have the travel bug in 2025, with two thirds seeking budget-friendly destinations: AMEX

American Express' 2025 Global Travel Trends Report, revealing that 78% of Australians are planning to embark on up to three holidays in 2025.

The report highlights several key priorities for Australian travellers. A significant 68% are seeking budget-friendly destinations, while 42% are interested in locations that align with their personal interests, such as food, sport, and fashion. Additionally, 42% of respondents are keen on destinations that offer authentic local experiences.

The influence of children on travel decisions is notable, with 59% of Australian parents indicating that their children play a role in shaping travel plans. Meanwhile, 44% of Australians intend to use points to fund their travel in 2025.

Entertainment events are also a significant draw, with 46% of Australians planning to book trips to attend such events next year. The integration of technology into travel planning is evident, with 70% of Australians finding Generative AI useful for booking trips. Of these, 34% are using AI for activity recommendations.

From kids influencing family trips to booking holidays around live events, travel is more intentional than ever."
