SBS launches third season of 'SEEN' podcast with Yumi Stynes

Yumi Stynes is set to host the third season of the SBS podcast 'SEEN', which will focus on older women who challenge societal stereotypes. The podcast aims to highlight the stories of eight Australian women who have discovered a renewed sense of purpose later in life.

The new season will commence with its first episode airing on March 20, followed by weekly releases. The featured guests include a diverse group of women from various fields, each bringing their unique experiences and perspectives to the series.

Among the guests is Pauline Menczer, a world champion surfer known for her achievements in the sport. Duang Tengtrirat, a community chef, will also share her journey, alongside Crystal Love Johnson, a drag queen performer. Contemporary artist Lindy Lee is set to discuss her artistic endeavours, while carer advocate Najila Turk will provide insights into her advocacy work.

The podcast will also feature para-athlete Kerryn Harvey, who has made significant contributions to her field. Doctor and educator Hadia Haikal-Mukhtar will share her experiences in medicine and education. Additionally, Victoria Spence, an innovator in the grieving process, will discuss her work.

"The stories and wisdom of older women haven't been celebrated enough! These women store troves of experiences, wild stories and uniquely female-designed career paths", Stynes said.

The podcast series 'SEEN' is part of SBS's broader efforts to showcase diverse voices and stories. The network has been recognised for its contributions to the podcasting industry, having been awarded Podcast Publisher of the Year for the third consecutive year at the 2024 Australian Podcast Awards.

"As I near my fifties, it’s been especially encouraging to hear the recipes to a fulfilling later life from the women who have gone through it all – and are so much richer for it. It’s been an absolute privilege to hear from these amazing women and I can’t wait to share them with you in season 3 of SEEN," said Stynes.
