A Current Affair launches 'That's ACA' podcast for behind-the-scenes insights

Nine Network's A Current Affair program has expanded its media presence with the launch of a new weekly podcast titled 'That's ACA'. Hosted by reporters Steve Marshall and Lizzie Pearl, the podcast aims to provide listeners with a behind-the-scenes look at some of the show's most talked-about stories.

The podcast is designed to offer a candid insight into the world of television reporting, featuring discussions on major stories and personal experiences from the hosts. It is described as a celebration of quintessentially Australian stories, aiming to evoke a range of emotions from its audience. New episodes of 'That's ACA' are released every Friday morning, with the first three episodes already available for listeners.

These initial episodes cover a variety of topics, including the signature 'bounce' move, whistleblowers, and an interview with former mobster Michael Franzese. The podcast is accessible on major platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts, broadening its reach to a diverse audience.

"There's a saying in the ACA office, 'that's so ACA'," he said. "It's those stories that are quintessentially Australian, that make you laugh, make you cry, that fire you up, or just make you shake your head and say... 'Only in Australia'. This podcast is a celebration of those moments and a chance for our viewers to be part of the conversation," said Marshall.

"Our viewers are so invested in these stories and we're constantly asked what happens when the cameras are off. This podcast is our chance to finally pull back the curtain, share the hilarious or heartfelt moments that don't make it to air and really celebrate the craft of storytelling with our audience and our colleagues," said Pearl.

Executive Producer of A Current Affair, Amy McCarthy, said: "A Current Affair has been a staple in Australian living rooms for decades... That's ACA is a natural evolution for the brand, allowing us to connect with our audience on a deeper level and on new platforms. It’s an exciting opportunity to showcase the incredible work and unique personalities of our reporting team, strengthening the bond we have with our viewers beyond the nightly broadcast."
