Figma launches AI-powered 'Figma Make' tool in Australia

Figma has introduced a new AI-driven tool designed to streamline the design-to-development process. Launching in Australia today, the 'Figma Make' tool can be used to generate interactive prototypes by leveraging brand style context, thereby accelerating the creation of functional apps or prototypes.

Figma Make allows users to utilise natural language prompts or existing Figma designs to create these prototypes. The tool is integrated with existing design and development workflows, ensuring that the prototypes remain consistent with brand styling. This integration is available to all Figma users, including those on the free Starter plan and all paid plan seats.

Figma’s Asia Pacific General Manager, Scott Pugh, said: "AI is transforming the product development process by allowing anyone–regardless of technical ability–to turn ideas into working products or prototypes... Figma Make welcomes even more people into the product development process, while raising the ceiling for what’s possible by giving designers and builders access to tools and capabilities that allow them to push their craft even further."

In addition to Figma Make, Figma has launched a Dev Mode MCP Server to facilitate integration with coding tools such as Copilot in VS Code. This development is part of Figma's ongoing efforts to enhance its platform's capabilities.

Figma's presence in Australia has been expanding since the opening of its Sydney office in November 2024. The company serves major Australian enterprises, including NAB, Safety Culture, and Atlassian. Moreover, Figma has announced a local data residency capability for Australia, which will enable enterprise customers to host data locally starting in the fourth quarter.
