The Seven Network has acquired the rights to broadcast the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) in Australia, with the tournament to air live and free on 7plus Sport from Thursday 10 July.
EWC 2025 is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will feature over 2,000 elite players competing for a share of US$70 million, which is touted as the largest prize pool in esports history. The tournament will encompass 24 major esports titles, including Counter Strike, League of Legends, DOTA, MLBB, PUBG, and Honor of Kings.
Teams from the Asia-Pacific region, such as Gen G, Talon, and Team Secret, are expected to participate in the event. Seven's coverage will include the EWC's Opening Ceremony, which will feature a live performance by American singer and gamer Post Malone.
The event will also showcase EWS Spotlight, a two-hour live show highlighting the biggest moments of the EWC, including finals scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The tournament will be streamed on 7plus Sport until Monday, 25 August 2025.
"By broadcasting the Esports World Cup 2025 on 7plus Sport, we're connecting Australians with a global phenomenon that's redefining sport," said Seven West Media's Chief Digital Officer, Gereurd Roberts.
