NGEN unveils 2025 program with new mentorship initiative

The Media Federation of Australia’s (MFA) flagship training and development initiative, NGEN, has announced its 2025 program lineup. The program is tailored for media professionals with less than five years of experience and aims to provide comprehensive development opportunities.

A notable addition to the 2025 offering is the NGEN Mentor Program, specifically designed for professionals with three to five years of experience. This new initiative is set to launch in March 2025 and will connect participants with seasoned industry leaders, offering career insights and support for professional growth.

The 2025 program features a series of future-focused workshops, addressing key industry trends such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital transformation, and sustainability. A total of 47 workshops are scheduled, catering to two distinct experience levels: those with 0-2 years of experience and those with 3-5 years.

Workshops will be delivered through a combination of in-person sessions and webinars, providing flexibility and accessibility for participants. Among the new workshops are 'Spotlight Sessions', 'Deliberately Thinking Differently with Rob Pyne', and 'You Can’t Ask That! With Josh Green and Caroline Hugall'.

Melanie Aslanidis, Head of NGEN, commented on the program's evolution: "2025 marks an exciting milestone for NGEN as we continue to provide tailored tools and resources to accelerate careers at every stage. Whether NGENers are stepping into their first media role or have a few years of experience, our workshops, e-learning modules, and industry recognition – including the NGEN category in the MFA Awards – help them thrive at every level. NGEN isn’t just a program; it’s a launchpad for success."

The NGEN Award, part of the MFA Awards, will open for entries on 12 June 2025, providing an opportunity for recognition within the industry. Additionally, the NGEN Halloween event is scheduled to take place in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, offering networking and engagement opportunities for participants.

Registrations for all NGEN workshops are currently open. The MFA, a non-profit organisation, represents over 90% of media billings placed by media agencies in Australia, underscoring its significant influence within the industry.
