DDB, VML, Droga5, Clemenger BBDO, +61 and more represent Australian agencies in latest Cannes Lions shortlist drop

The latest Cannes Lions shortlists have landed over the weekend, with DDB, VML Sydney, Droga5, Clemenger BBDO, and Telstra's +61, currently topping nominations amongst the cohort of Australian agencies shortlisted for their work.

Around two thirds of the shortlists have now been published, with Film, Creative B2B, Creative Data, Brand Experience & Activation, Creative Business Transformation, Creative Commerce, Luxury, Sustainable Development Goals, Creative Effectiveness and Creative Strategy the remaining categories to be announced.

DDB's Sydney and Melbourne offices have so far picked up nine shortlist nominations between them, with DDB Sydney's Roobadge campaign for Volkswagen receiving nods across Design, Audio/Radio, Direct and Health and Wellness, while DDB Melbourne's University of Dyslexic Thinking for Made by Dyslexia added to its Innovation nomination, also making the shortlists for Health & Wellness, as well as the prestigious Glass Lion for Change. DDB Melbourne's The Forbidden Flagmoji with Solid Lines landed on the Direct and Social & Creator shortlists.

Meanwhile, VML Sydney's Hidden Eye Test for 1001 Optometry swept up nine nominations across the Outdoor, Design, and Industry Craft shortlists, and the agency's Legacy Lager campaign for Legacy Australia was named to PR and Media shortlists.

Droga5 ANZ and Meat & Live Stock Australia's The Comments Section has been shortlisted seven times across the Direct, Media and Social & Creator Categories, and Clemenger BBDO picked up five nominations across various campaigns for Samsung Australia, which were named to shortlists in Design, Social & Creator and Entertainment Lions for Gaming.

Telstra and its creative partners, including bespoke agency +61 and specialist creative shop Bear Meets Eagle on Fire, were shortlisted five times in the Film Craft category for their Donkey, Experience Beautiful Internet , and Better on a Better Network campaigns.

Other Australian agencies named to shortlists so far include TBWA\Melbourne, making three shortlists for its Welcome to Melbourne campaign for Specsavers and TBWA\Sydney with one for Modibodi's Shark Week.Thinkerbell has been shortlisted three times for campaigns for Binge, Australian Bananas and V, and Ogilvy Sydney has three across work for Coca-Cola and Bristol Myers Squibb. 

Elsewhere, Supermassive and Finch have so far been shortlisted four times for their work on 36 Months, including the prestigious Titanium Lions, plus three other nominations in PR.

Special Melbourne and Special Sydney nabbed one shortlist mention each, for their respective Coopers and Uber Eats campaigns - as did R/GA Sydney and We Are Warriors; Chisel Sydney and Instax Mini; It's Friday and Sydney Water; OMD Sydney, Akcelo and McDonald's; and Saatchi & Saatchi and Toyota Hilux. The Australian Cancer Research Foundation and The Ministry for Communications & The Arts Coogee were also shortlisted twice for their Time to Live campaign.
