Experian, GBG expand partnership to combat identity fraud in ANZ

Experian and GBG have expanded their partnership to enhance consumer protection against identity fraud and financial crime in Australia and New Zealand, with Experian's data capabilities to be integrated into GBG's software platform to deliver an identity verification solution.

The solution is designed to serve a wide range of clients across various sectors, including banks, fintech companies, telecommunications providers, utility companies, legal firms, and other industries regulated by anti-money laundering (AML) laws. It also targets non-regulated businesses seeking to bolster their identity verification processes.

The greenID solution, as it is known, promises fast, secure, and seamless identity verification without the need for paperwork, delays, or in-person visits. It enables businesses to access real-time fraud alerts and assists in preventing identity theft.

Experian's Global Identity and Fraud Report 2024 highlights that 71% of businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions are struggling with evolving fraud threats. In addition, GBG data indicates that 68% of businesses in Australia and New Zealand experienced increased fraud incidents last year, with identity-related fraud being identified as a top threat.

The partnership builds upon a seven-year relationship between illion and GBG, following Experian's acquisition of illion in 2024. This acquisition has allowed Experian to further enhance its offerings in the region.

Managing Director, Software Solutions A/NZ of Experian, Mathew Demetriou, said: "This is a practical example of our commitment to improving the customer experience. By partnering with GBG, we're making proven, high-performing technology available to more of our clients-helping them onboard faster and stay one step ahead of fraud."

General Manager APAC at GBG, Carol Chris, said: "Fraud is evolving rapidly, businesses need powerful tools to manage their fraud risk and customer experience, and collaboration is essential to keep consumers and businesses protected. This expanded partnership reflects the trust and alignment between GBG and Experian and demonstrates our shared commitment to deliver innovative, robust, compliant and user-friendly solutions to market. We're proud to help more organisations verify and onboard genuine customers quickly, safely, and confidently."
