Firefly app gains new AI models, mobile access for creative execution

Adobe has taken the wrappers off new AI models and features to its Firefly app, its AI-assisted content ideation, creation, and production toolkit, as well as more partnerships.

Under its growing partner model ecosystem, new AI models from Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika, and Runway are being incorporated into Firefly. These join existing models from Adobe, OpenAI, Google, and Black Forest Labs.

Google's latest text-to-image model, Imagen 4, and Veo 3 will be integrated into Firefly's Text to Image, Text to Video, and Image to Video features. Adobe has stated that content generated and uploaded in its apps will not be used to train generative AI models, in accordance with its partnership agreements. Content Credentials, described as a 'nutrition label' for digital content, will be attached to AI-generated content in the Firefly app. The app allows access to all models through a single Adobe sign-in and plan.

The Firefly app will also now include enhanced features for Firefly Boards, such as AI-powered video generation, image editing capabilities, and expanded partner model integrations. The Firefly mobile app, available for iOS and Android from this week, will enable creators to generate and edit images and videos using Adobe's Firefly models or those from partner models. This mobile app will sync with the creator's Creative Cloud account, facilitating seamless transitions between mobile and desktop.

Firefly Boards had also launched in public beta, and is an AI-first surface designed for creative teams to ideate and collaborate. New innovations for Firefly Boards include video generation, iterative image edits, one-click arrange, and linked documents.

"We built the Firefly app to be the ultimate one-stop shop for creative experimentation—where you can explore different AI models, aesthetics, and media types all in one place. Every new partner model we add gives creators even more flexibility to experiment, iterate, and push their ideas further," Alexandru Costin, Vice President of Generative AI at Adobe, stated.

"The new Firefly mobile app puts AI-first creativity in your pocket. It gives creators the freedom to generate and edit content wherever inspiration strikes and the flexibility to choose the AI model that best fits their vision, whether it’s Firefly or a partner model."

Costin also described the collaborative potential of Firefly Boards, saying, "Ideating with Firefly Boards is like an AI-powered creative jam session, where creative professionals can riff across media types, explore ideas together and turn sparks of inspiration into production-ready concepts."

Mohammad Norouzi, CEO and Co-Founder of Ideogram, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "Ideogram delivers professional-quality graphic design and refined typography at speed. We’re excited to bring these capabilities to the Adobe ecosystem, so creative professionals can move fast from idea to final design without compromising fidelity or control."

Amit Jain, CEO and Co-founder of Luma AI, highlighted the capabilities of their model, Ray2, saying, "Luma AI is building multimodal intelligence that empowers creatives to do previously impossible things, and I’m excited to bring our latest model, Ray2, to Adobe customers. Adobe has built an incredible creative platform, and Ray2 in Firefly is a natural fit. With Ray2, designers and storytellers can generate video with exceptional control and realism—from high-motion fidelity to detailed facial animation. This is where Ray2 shines. And with our new Modify Video capabilities, creatives can transform footage from any camera into a cinematic production—whether live-action, anime, or something entirely new. We aim to bring our technology to as many creatives as possible, and this partnership is a huge step in achieving that goal."

Demi Guo, CEO of Pika, shared excitement about joining the Firefly ecosystem, stating, "We're thrilled to join the Adobe Firefly ecosystem and be part of this amazing suite of tools. Pika model 2.2 text-to-video lets you turn your ideas into mind blowing videos with a simple text prompt. We can't wait to see what people create."

Cristóbal Valenzuela, CEO and Co-founder of Runway, commented on the partnership, "At Runway, we believe that the best stories have yet to be told. Telling those stories requires putting our tools in the hands of more studios, enterprises and individual creators—this partnership with Adobe provides even more ways for creatives and artists to access the power of Runway."
